Maynard Webb Joins LiveOps as CEO
Former eBay COO to Head Leading Distributed Contact Center Company
Palo Alto, CA, December 20, 2006 - LiveOps, the leader in distributed contact centers, announced today that Maynard Webb, former eBay COO, will be joining the company as CEO effective immediately. Previous CEO Bill Trenchard will continue as Chairman."There are very few executives who have the experience of building and scaling a global community of empowered entrepreneurs on top of a world class technology platform. Maynard is, in my opinion, uniquely qualified to help capture the opportunities we have today at LiveOps and lead us forward to build one of the world's leading companies," said Trenchard.
"Bill has done a remarkable job and I admire him tremendously. At this point, LiveOps has such enormous potential that he wanted to find a CEO who has experience taking companies to the next level. I look forward to working with and learning from him," said Webb.
"I've always been interested in Internet-based, high growth companies that are changing the world. LiveOps is enabling people to work from anywhere, at anytime. It is using technology to build a passionate community and dramatically improve people's lives. It reminds me of eBay in the early days," added Webb.
The leading company in the distributed call center industry, LiveOps contracts with over 9,000 home agents, or work-from-home customer service agents, across 48 states to answer customer service calls and take product orders over the phone. It empowers this community through its Web-based technology platform. The company has over 150 customers, ranging from brand-name direct marketers to Fortune 500 companies and has worked with the Red Cross to reconnect families in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
At eBay, Webb oversaw engineering and technology operations, product development, customer support, trust and safety, global billing, human resources, and legal departments, working closely with CEO Meg Whitman. He has been credited with creating organizational processes and day-to-day structures which enabled eBay to grow from $140 Million in revenue to over $4.5 Billion in 2005, while the employee base grew from 250 to over 12,000. Webb started at eBay in 1999 and retired in August of 2006.
Prior to joining eBay, Webb served as CIO of Gateway, Inc. and Bay Networks. Webb currently sits on the boards of Hyperion, Salesforce.com, and Gartner, Inc.
LiveOps has funding from CMEA Ventures and Menlo Ventures and has seen rapid growth since its inception.
